On October 5 the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) arranged a seminar on reseach and innovation for global challenges. The seminar was part of the Norwegian Year of Science.
During the seminar researchers and entrepreneurs presented concrete examples on new knowledge and new technologies that may alleviate some of the problems in the complex area of food, water, energy and community building.
Experts present at the workshop have later developed a proposal for the
Rio +20 UN conference on sustainable development.
The aim of the submission is to raise awareness of the need for sustainable case studies in the field that demonstrate ways to resolve or ameliorate environmental issues associated with food production. There will be a new workshop on December 9 2011; 10.00 – 15.00 at HYDRO Vækerø.
The Trondheim seminar also provided input to the OECD STIG project on governance of science, technology and innovation for global challenges.
